Possible Alternatives to New Nuclear?

The US Energy department is funding no less than 75 energy storage projects in a wide variety of possible breakthrough sciences allowing intermittent energy production (solar/wind) to be stored pending use. (Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy).These technologies are expected to become cost effective and operational in just a few years and before any nuclear energy plant could possibly be built.Could we therefore ask Suffolk County Council to cease co-operation in building a nuclear plant on the East Coast; and for our MP’s to get the issue taken up in the Energy and Climate Change Committee of the House of Commons. EADT comments from the Minister Without Portfolio, B Gummer, could perhaps add to our understanding of how the government intends avoiding nuclear “white elephants”.
